POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS EXPLAINED:
Whilst Laser Rejuvenation and Curas Correction have relatively minimal downtime, there are certain side effects that are normal after treatment. These side effects usually subside within the first few hours of treatment. In some cases, however, where a client has dehydrated or sensitised skin, these side effects can slightly prolong. Rest assured that all of these side effects are temporally and will go away in time on their own.
THE FOLLOWING SIDE EFFECTS ARE NORMAL, BUT TEMPORARY:
Discomfort, redness, slight flakiness, dryness or tightness of the skin.
Following the treatment, you can expect your skin to feel sensitive and slightly sunburned. A temporary sunburn-like redness will appear for 24 to 48 hours, although in most cases this redness subsides within a few hours. In addition to this, the skin can sometimes feely dry or tight and may flake a little.
What to do: Use a colourless aloe vera gel or any other cooling preparations at home if necessary, to ease temporary discomfort. To keep the skin hydrated after treatment, we recommend that you apply ‘The Soak’, our hyaluronic acid serum morning or ‘The Rescue’ our Vitamin B serum, and night followed by a moisturiser to seal in all that hydration. One of our dermal therapists will be able to recommend the right moisturiser for the type of skin you have.
Itchy skin, small bumps, breakouts.
You may experience a histamine reaction (a hive-like rash) as well as small bumps or breakouts which can also be accompanied with itchiness.
Do not pick or scratch the skin and avoid using any abrasive exfoliants; let it run its course and resolve naturally.
Take an over the counter antihistamine e.g. Claratyne or Zyrtex to alleviate this irritation, which should settle after 1-3 days.
Pigment Changes
It is completely normal for pigmented lesions to darken after your treatment which will naturally shed off the skins surface. Although not common, you may also experience some crusting of the pigmentation.
It is essential that the skin is not picked or scratched at all in this stage; it MUST be left to heal on its own which usually occurs within 5-14 days.
